A Trip to Saranac

The Can-Am rugby tournament is held every year at the end of July - beginning of August in Saranac/Lake Placid, NY. This tournament is often referred to as rugby Christmas! It is a time to see friends from all over, play with other teams and enjoy a beautiful landscape.
While Worcester does not specifically put teams in, our players are on a number of teams who play in the tournament. For women's rugby there are Shamrocks that play on traveling teams such as The Misfits, The Motherruckers, and Team Pretty Rugby. Worcester Men’s players play for Castleton Alumni among other teams. 

This year the Misfits played Saturday but did not advance to Sunday. Team Pretty Rugby and the Motherruckers had a successful day on Saturday and advanced to Sunday where they started the day playing one another. Team Pretty Rugby took the win and made it to the finals where they took on a motley team made of Beantown and Portland players. Unfortunately Team Pretty Rugby did not win that match but had a great Saranac weekend winning 4 out of 5 games played.
