Mad River Tournament Recap
The Mad River tournament has always been the social highlight of the summer, a team building weekend of rugby and camping to keep the 15's bug in our players brains in the middle of our summer 7's campaign.
Although the results were not in our favor, a boisterous group of talent represented our club through the weekend.
With many players out of position, and a bench spread thin, they made the best of what was in front of them and enjoyed every minute of playing time.
Shamrocks Caravan to Canada
Some years ago, the Shamrocks had the good fortune of a visitor from Montreal Canada join their ranks. This feisty but compact player, Tiffany Luong aka Tiny Big Kat played with our squad for 2 years before heading back home to the cold North. Tiny loved being a Shamrock so much, she wanted her home club, the Westmount Ravens to experience the Sham fam. In 2019 the Westmount Ravens came to Worcester, MA and we all had some great rugby play and shenanigans with each other. Westmount then invited the Shamrocks to Montreal in 2021, but COVID derailed that plan.
However, the invite was an open one and the Shamrocks were able to make the Caravan to Canada this past June. It was a small tour of about 14 Shamrocks. The rugby match was 3 periods of 10s play, but the Shamrocks played with the rostered players they arrived with and had a blast. Newer players gained confidence, there were several speedy runs and fluid ball movement. Shamrocks won 20-12. Best of all, no major injuries.
Many laughs were shared throughout the weekend. Westmount hosted a fancy dinner in their financial district and a scavenger hunt in the Old Port. The Shamrocks had just enough fun in the hotel to get room deposits back but maybe not a second invitation. After three days the tour returned home with a million merry memories, bags of ketchup chips and loads of chocolate. Everyone on tour and those who saw the pictures are very excited to plan the next adventure. Where should we go??
WORCESTER SEVENS RUGBY TOURNAMENT
Worcester Sevens Rugby Tournament is apart of the NERFU Summer Series and is a tournament that our community looks forward to each year. After a few years off due to covid restrictions we were more than happy to bring this tournament back and share rugby with the rest of New England.
Free Jacks Game
Check out some of the smiling faces we had at the Free Jacks game! Worcester Rugby Community traveled down to Quincy to watch the Free Jacks play against Rugby United, a night filled with team bonding, fun, smiles and love.
Speaking of love... congratulations to Joe and Regina on their engagement! Joe surprised Regina mid field during a water break with a trick trivia question that ended with him proposing. She said yes as the crowd roared, we were so excited to see the big moment unfold right there in the stadium.
